How Many Appointments Does It Take to Get Dentures, Atlanta?

BY buckhead smile center

The real fact of the matter is that there exist several ways to manufacture dentures. In actuality, it can take even as less as two sittings at the dental clinic for this. Sometimes, though, this can stretch up to even ten sittings at the dentist. For dentures, first and foremost, one needs to extract the existing teeth. Some patients have very few remaining teeth, and others have more in a number of these. It depends on how many teeth are there to be removed. Also, an impression of this area needs to be taken and sent to the dental laboratory where the dentures are manufactured. These can be partial or complete.

How are dentures different from dental implants?

Dental implants are the latest to be introduced into the world of dentistry. Dentures have been in existence for much longer. With the former, one can get teeth which are akin to the original teeth of the patient. However, dentures are of such a nature that they can more easily be spotted inside the mouth of the patient. Also, there is a bit of danger with dentures of them slipping out of the mouth of the patient if he or she laughs too loudly. Also, they can also crack or snap if the patient bites into a food item which is very hard or sticky. The facial appearance of a patient alters by a bit when using dentures. This is not so much the case with dental implants.Dentures are such that they need to be replaced after every five to seven years since they may become lose or ill-fitting. This does not happen with dental implants. Also, dentures need to be removed each night and placed in a jar containing a cleansing solution to which a cleansing tablet has been added. The dentures are brushed with the cleansing solution or with soap or toothpaste which is meant for this purpose. Dental implants are permanent. Once the titanium screw is drilled into the jaw bone, it becomes firm in its position since the jaw bone grows around it naturally. A dental crown or cap is placed atop the implant to function as the tooth which the world sees. For dentures, one needs to go to the dentist on a regular basis to have a professional cleaning done. For implants, one may require periodic adjustments to be done, and it is necessary to visit the dentist on a regular basis for this as well. However, what is important with dental implants as well as dentures is that oral hygiene is maintained at all times. One should brush one’s teeth at least twice daily and for at least two minutes each time. Also, dental flossing is necessary. Also, what works best is to brush the teeth each time after consuming food or drink. However, if this is not possible, then one should at least rinse the mouth thoroughly well after each consumption. For more details contact: 2900 Peachtree Road NW, Suite 209,Atlanta, Georgia 30305 Call: (678) 999-3128.
